Creating ClearKinetic: Part II

When planning what would become ClearKinetic, I spent a good deal of time thinking about ways to design education programs ready to thrive in an uncertain and dynamic future.

Through this process, three strategic factors emerged.

Learning. Business. Value.

These are the three strategic pillars that every education leader, across any industry or context, continuously has to balance.

These ideas genuinely impact how education programs, services, and experiences are designed and delivered today and into the future.

Here are a few examples.

Associations

Associations are undergoing a foundational shift in business models that rely less on member dues revenue to create new ways of meeting their members' education needs. This challenges association leaders to deliver high-quality education offerings for members while creating sustainable value for the association. New competition is also starting to provide education programs traditionally served by associations.

Higher Education

The public perception and value proposition of higher education have never been more in question than it is today. Increasing costs, variable outcomes, and a disconnect between what higher education offers and what society wants / needs are only a few of the many issues shaking the traditional higher education model to its core. New ideas are desperately needed that transform higher education's learning, business, and value proposition factors into models well-positioned for the future.

Workforce Education and Development

People are changing jobs and careers more frequently now than ever before. This trend is only expected to grow even more dynamic. Employers are also experiencing enhanced challenges in hiring skilled employees while the competition for talent is increasing exponentially. In many aspects, the investment in education and training is becoming even more core to organizations' future health and survival.

The ClearKinetic Innovation Model: A Roadmap for Collaboration, Leadership, and Innovation

At the heart of how ClearKinetic collaborates is the ClearKinetic Innovation Model.

The ClearKinetic Innovation Model is a visual framework that guides how education leaders can embrace uncertainty with confidence while remaining value-driven. In this model, uncertainty is a catalyst for innovation rather than something to try to avoid.

The ClearKinetic Innovation Model was created as a simple thinking tool to help education leaders organize their ideas, navigate change, make important decisions, lead people, create value, and thrive through complexity and uncertainty.

ClearKinetic Innovation Model

The ClearKinetic Innovation Model is designed as a 33 framework.

  • Three Co-Design Activities
  • Three Strategy Layers
  • Three Collective Actions

Each element of the model is framed by "how might we" questions to help guide creative thought and innovative solutions.

Co-Design Activities - How might we create clarity through complexity and confusion?

  • Discover Opportunities - How might we discover new opportunities for innovation together?
  • Design Ideas - How might we organize and design new ideas and solutions together?
  • Create Results - How might we create measurable and meaningful results from the solutions we develop together?

Strategy Layers- How might we succeed?

  • Learning Strategy - How might we help people learn effectively?
  • Business Strategy - How might we create fiscally, operationally sustainable, and efficient programs, services, and experiences?
  • Value Creation Strategy - How might we create unique and differentiated value?

Collective Actions - How might we empower clear, collaborative, and confident action?

  • Focus - How might we focus our ideas?
  • Activate - How might we move ideas to action?
  • Optimize - How might we learn by doing and optimize successes?

The ClearKinetic Strategy System, which is a suite of visualization and collaboration tools, is the engine that supports strategic thinking, decision-making, collaboration, and innovation throughout the model.

The ClearKinetic Innovation Model gives education leaders a new tool to guide thinking, decision-making, and facilitating change.
